qsgrenderer.cpp ! \class QSGRenderer \brief The renderer class is the abstract baseclass used for rendering the QML scene graph. The renderer is not tied to any particular surface. It expects a context to be current and will render into that surface according to how the device rect, viewport rect and projection transformation are set up. Rendering is a sequence of steps initiated by calling renderScene(). This will effectively draw the scene graph starting at the root node. The QSGNode::preprocess() function will be called for all the nodes in the graph, followed by an update pass which updates all matrices, opacity, clip states and similar in the graph. Because the update pass is called after preprocess, it is safe to modify the graph during preprocess. To run a custom update pass over the graph, install a custom QSGNodeUpdater using setNodeUpdater(). Once all the graphs dirty states are updated, the virtual render() function is called. The render() function is implemented by QSGRenderer subclasses to render the graph in the most optimal way for a given hardware. The renderer can make use of stencil, depth and color buffers in addition to the scissor rect. \internal 9442 -

qsgrendererinterface.cpp ! \class QSGRendererInterface \brief An interface providing access to some of the graphics API specific internals of the scenegraph. \inmodule QtQuick \since 5.8 Renderer interfaces allow accessing graphics API specific functionality in the scenegraph. Such internals are not typically exposed. However, when integrating custom rendering via QSGRenderNode for example, it may become necessary to query certain values, for instance the graphics device (e.g. the Direct3D or Vulkan device) that is used by the scenegraph. QSGRendererInterface's functions have varying availability. API and language queries, such as, graphicsApi() or shaderType() are always available, meaning it is sufficient to construct a QQuickWindow or QQuickView, and the graphics API or shading language in use can be queried right after via QQuickWindow::rendererInterface(). This guarantees that utilities like the GraphicsInfo QML type are able to report the correct values as early as possible, without having conditional property values - depending on for instance shaderType() - evaluate to unexpected values. Engine-specific accessors, like getResource(), are however available only after the scenegraph is initialized. Additionally, there may be backend-specific limitations on when such functions can be called. The only way that is guaranteed to succeed is calling them when the rendering of a node (i.e. the preparation of the command list for the next frame) is active. In practice this typically means QSGRenderNode::render(). 11725 -

qsgrendernode.cpp ! \class QSGRenderNode \brief The QSGRenderNode class represents a set of custom rendering commands targeting the graphics API that is in use by the scenegraph. \inmodule QtQuick \since 5.8 QSGRenderNode allows creating scene graph nodes that perform their own custom rendering via QRhi (the common approach from Qt 6.6 on), directly via a 3D graphics API such as OpenGL, Vulkan, or Metal, or, when the \c software backend is in use, via QPainter. QSGRenderNode is the enabler for one of the three ways to integrate custom 2D/3D rendering into a Qt Quick scene. The other two options are to perform the rendering \c before or \c after the Qt Quick scene's own rendering, or to generate a whole separate render pass targeting a dedicated render target (a texture) and then have an item in the scene display the texture. The QSGRenderNode-based approach is similar to the former, in the sense that no additional render passes or render targets are involved, and allows injecting custom rendering commands "inline" with the Qt Quick scene's own rendering. See \l{Qt Quick Scene Graph} for a further discussion of the three approaches. \sa {Scene Graph - Custom QSGRenderNode} 18863 -
